Temazcal Ceremony in Tulum
The Mayan sweat lodge. Not a sauna. A rebirth. Four doors. Hot stones. Songs. Prayers. Transformation.
Book TemazcalWhat is Temazcal?
Temazcal (from Nahuatl "temaz" - steam and "calli" - house) is an ancient Mesoamerican purification ceremony. It is not a spa treatment. It is not a fitness sauna.
The dome-shaped structure represents the womb of Mother Earth. You enter to be reborn. Hot volcanic stones (the grandmothers) are brought in, water poured over them, creating steam that purifies body and spirit.
Four doors represent the four directions, four elements, four stages of life. Each door brings deeper heat, deeper release, deeper transformation.

The Four Doors
First Door - East
Birth and childhood. Connection to air element. Setting intentions. The heat builds slowly.
Second Door - South
Youth and adolescence. Fire element. Passion and transformation. Deeper heat, deeper surrender.
Third Door - West
Adulthood. Water element. Emotions and release. The most intense heat. Old patterns dissolve.
Fourth Door - North
Wisdom and ancestors. Earth element. Gratitude and integration. Emerging reborn.
Cultural Respect
This is Mayan land. Temazcal is Mayan medicine. We do not "offer" it - we facilitate respectful access to it.
Our temazcal ceremonies are led by Mayan elders with 20+ years of practice. We pay fairly. We honor protocol. We never strip ceremony of its cultural context.
If you want a "sweat lodge experience," plenty of spas sell that. If you want authentic ceremony with humility and proper guidance, we are here.
